DIY Centerpieces

i was inspired by the carnival weddings i've seen on blogs such as snippet and ink, but i have a thing for things being vintage looking. here is what you need for this project (bought at Micheal's):
flower pots, white paint, sponge brushes, water, pre-potted faux flowers of choice, moss, a glue gun, scissors and knife, and ribbon of choice.
1.) prepare your area by placing newspaper down and layout out all your materials.

2.) dip your sponge brush lighting in the white paint and then lightly in the water. holding your pot with your hand in the pot brush quickly in the horizontal brush strokes around the pot. i wanted them to look white washed so i let alot of the ceramic show through. remember to do the top edges of the pot.
3.) prepare your flowers by removing any packaging that comes with it.

4.) Place in the pots. you will have to cut back the styrofoam as it will restrain it from fitting deep in the pot meeting the surface of the pot's top edge. images below:

5.) with a hot glue gun begin covering edges and not so pretty parts with moss. you may have to glue to the pot.

6.) Add ribbon of your choice. I glued a straight ribbon around the pot then glued a seperate bow to the front. i am in love with them and they will suit my vintage carnival wedding theme!

DIY - Mission: Hide misquito candles.

My wedding is near water so i need a way of disguising my ugly cheap misquito candles!
Mod-Podge Everything! Hurricane glass I found for $3 each! These will surround the lake our wedding opens up to.
This will be my cupcake tower topper when i'm done with it...

I didn't know how easy this all is...

What you need. Tissue paper. Modpodge and spongebrush. and object to cover. easy.

1. prepare by protecting your surface that you are working on with newspaper.

2. for the aged or crinkled effect ball up tissue.

3. even spread modpodge to object and carefully place it to the tissue paper. i wrapped it around and cut around to remove excess around the corners of the N.

4. cover edges m.p. and fold over edges and place modpodge over the tissue paper in a thin even coat.

5. crinkle 2nd layer of your tissue paper (i'm using a print one this time)

6. Cut into smaller strips.

7. spread M.P. on object when laying down the new tissue and spread a thin cover of the top layer. When it dries it will have a glossy sheen.

so I did the same with the hurricane glasses...
