My ticket booth!

Jason Cochran and his wife have made this ticket booth for my wedding. I am so in love with it! It really adds to our wedding theme! It will say Tickets Here on the sign top part in carnival font made by Scribblin' Sisters. I can't wait for the wedding to be here!

the stripes are painted! the Tickets Here lettering will be in a dusty redish/pink. I'm really excited!

DIY carnival festival flag garland

my inspiration:

i loved this festive decor for my carnival wedding. i thought it would fit perfectly and it was another way of incorporating the theme in the wedding without being ridiculous with a petting zoo or something.

so far i've made 3 flag lines that are about 15 ft long each. what you need is 1 and half yards of your select material. I choose only 4 different patterns, but i think it would look even better with 5. I'm using natural string something or other i got at hobby lobby and you need tacky glue and scissors and something to make the flag pattern on. I used cardboard.

easy instructions:

1) make your pattern on cardboard so you can trace it on to the material. i liked to be sure i have the right side up so i labeled it top and bottom.and i just cut it to the size triangle i wanted. and lay out your material.
2) Trace several triangles at a time. You'll find you will have an easy triangle between each triangle you make and you'll just need to trace a line across for those. easy right! now, CUT THEM OUT! fun!
3) now lay out your several different piece of triangles in the order that you want them in. for my 15ft long garland i just used 3 of each flag.
4) lay a straight shot of glue on the bottom of the triangle.
5) lay string right across glue.

6) fold the excess of the bottom of the flag over the string and hold down till it's securely tucked in there. i spaced my triangles out half the width of my triangles. i suppose it doesn't matter how far apart they really are...just make sure that each space is uniform.

only a few more projects to go and done!

the wedding singer!

Great news! I have the only Wedding Singer/DJ/ Entertainer I wanted!
Mark Klentzman

This guy is great. I've never seen anyone like him before. He's got such a great attitude and is so outgoing and amazing voice. He's out there leading the dances and teaching the crowd new dances that rock your socks off! He's totally perfect for my wedding. I'm such a lucky girl! :) I'm going to have the best wedding day ever!

what i've got

so we got back from our day trip to New Orleans this evening and decided against a cajun theme wedding...it was fun there...but not my cup of tea. there was loads of places to take great photos. you can see more of them on my photography blog.
we are leaning towards the 5th of june for our wedding! i've got my dress ordered. got my ring back from gettin sized! a few friends wanting to network in the wedding business are volunteering their services for my wedding in exchange for great photos for their site and advertising!
so far i've recruited a wedding planner and a photographer.
i still need a venue! can you feel my panic!?

the wedding planning starts

i love tree centerpieces, wonder if i can make it myself.

so we have some basic wants for our wedding, but as soon as i think of all the splendor i hear "cha-ching!" and realistically we want to stay as close to free as possible.
so i've been trying to comprise some ideas to help get us to close to free as possible (excluding having to wear my old wedding dress from my first wedding, i'm not that cheap.) We thought that something intimate would be just me and brandon at the courthouse and then pay a photographer for some great shots of us in our wedding attire...no ceremony, no reception. but we'd love to have our family there...and if we have our family we might as well include our friends that are like family to us. so, that would make it a good sized dinner party. but everyone knows how much I love dancing...so should i include a dj. well you see how this gets expensive pretty fast!
we'll we both agree if we have a big shindig than we want to have it in places that aren't cookie cutter and are relative to our style and likes. we love downtown houston and art. i thinking of having the ceremony in an open lot on mainstreet where there use to be a building between a bank and something else well now its just broken brick wall and i shoot alot there. How much is a permit in Houston?

and then the reception may just be a dinner off main street somewhere.

So things I am willing to spend the big moolah on are:
  • my gown
  • brandon's duds
  • photographer
suggestions?
